Transe Gnawa Express est une création artistique qui fusionne la musique traditionnelle Gnawa avec des sons électroniques et des projections visuelles en direct, offrant une expérience de transe festive. Les éléments électroniques apportent une intensité hypnotique à une forme d'art déjà puissante enracinée dans la tradition spirituelle nord-africaine.
Le côté Gnawa du projet est dirigé par Hamouda Benzaid, Amine Bassi et Ahmed Labnoua — trois musiciens et danseurs d'Essaouira et de son célèbre festival, ayant une longue expérience des collaborations musicales entre genres. Leur recherche d'une rencontre générationnelle les a menés au duo Samifati, qui voyagent et se produisent à l'international depuis plus de dix ans.
Le duo Samifati est représenté par Sami Fatih au violon et aux machines. La création visuelle est assurée par Axel Vanlerberghe, qui ajoute une dimension scénique captivante à la performance.
L'événement se déroulera le dimanche 20 septembre 2026 à 19h30 au Théâtre Jean-Claude Carrière à Montpellier, dans le cadre du Festival Arabesques.
