Paparmane.

tea room

Paparmane is a tea room in Old Montreal, a short walk from Notre-Dame Basilica, at 209 rue Notre-Dame Ouest. It is a place for an unhurried afternoon, with a colourful, modern take on English afternoon tea served on tiered trays.

The tea service

The tray holds small sandwiches, canapés, scones with cream and jam, and house-made pastries. Tea is served loose-leaf, and you can choose from 25 teas and herbal infusions, so there is plenty to compare if you enjoy exploring different blends.

Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free versions are available, but they need to be requested with 24 hours' notice. The gluten-free option is not suitable for severe allergies, so if you have a serious allergy, it is worth raising this with the team before you arrive.

Seasonal menus and take-away

The tea room changes its menus through the year. Seasonal offers such as Saveurs d'automne and Délices d'hiver reflect the autumn and winter months, and in late October the room is decorated for Halloween. If you prefer to bring the experience home, you can buy take-away tea boxes, loose teas and gift certificates.

Plan your visit

Paparmane is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Last tea service is at 15:30 on Wednesday to Friday and at 16:30 on Saturday and Sunday, so an earlier arrival makes for a more relaxed visit. Over the holiday period from 19 December to 3 January, the room keeps different hours, and it is closed on 24, 25, 31 December and 1 January. The chef and co-owner is Yoann Bouyer.

The easiest way to check current details or ask about a special request is through the room's own website or by phone before you go.
