running

Nordvest-Løber is a social running and walking group in Copenhagen's Nordvest area, a district known for its creative character and its mix of industrial-era streets and quieter green pockets. It offers a way to see part of the city on foot or at a run, alongside people who live and move through the neighbourhood.

What a visit looks like

Most runs take place on Wednesdays and Sundays. Routes go around the lakes and along the motorway path to the north, returning in a loop. Groups are usually around ten people, with a minimum of four, so the atmosphere tends to be sociable rather than crowded. Pace and distance are agreed by whoever is in each group that day, which means there is room for beginners, walkers and experienced runners alike.

The group meets at Utterslev Torv, in the Bispebjerg neighbourhood. Runs often finish with something to share, such as water, beer, wine or cake, so the time after running is part of the outing as well.

Who it suits

This is a good option for active travellers who would like to see Copenhagen from a different angle than the usual sights, and who enjoy meeting people while they move. It is equally suited to visitors who prefer a gentle walk to a fast run, since the group is open to all paces. Because it is a community group rather than a formal tour, it works best if you come ready to join in and chat with the others.
