DR Symfoniorkestret hosts its traditional New Year Gala at DR Koncerthuset, bidding farewell to 2026 with champagne, canapés and festive music in the grand Koncertsalen.
This year's programme blends the classic Viennese favourites of Lumbye and Strauss with French musical delights by Offenbach, Bizet, Ravel and Gounod. Highlights include the celebrated Habanera from Bizet's Carmen, Gounod's sparkling Jewel Aria, the operatic gem Je veux vivre, and the beautiful Barcarolle duet from Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann — with the iconic Can Can from Galop Infernal also on the bill.
Two rising young soprano stars make their DR Koncerthuset debuts: Sofie Lund, named Young Talent at the Copenhagen Opera Festival in 2024, and dramatic soprano Laura Helene Hansen, known from the DR documentary Den næste diva.
Guests can enjoy a festively decorated foyer filled with bubbles and canapés before and during the concert, creating a full New Year celebration atmosphere.

DR Symfoniorkestret
DR Symfoniorkestret is the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, resident at DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. Over the past decade its traversal of Mahler's symphonies with chief conductor Fabio Luisi has produced some of the most memorable moments in the orchestra's history.
