The Library Bar is a cocktail bar on the ground floor of the ProfilHotels Copenhagen Plaza hotel, at Bernstorffsgade 4 in central Copenhagen. It is open every day of the week, which makes it an easy place to fit into an evening in the city.
The room is built for lingering. Its panelled walls, Chesterfield armchairs and shelves of leather-bound books and first editions give it the feel of a private study, and the bar keeps the atmosphere quiet and unhurried. With around 50 seats, it is a small room, so it suits a relaxed drink for two as well as a long evening among friends.
The drinks
The bar has been known since the 1970s for champagne, cognac and whisky, and today it is best known for its sophisticated cocktails. The cocktail menu takes its inspiration from famous books and literary themes, so each order can become a small conversation about what you are reading or remember from your own shelves. Before Denmark's smoking ban in 2007, it was one of Copenhagen's best-known cigar lounges.
The bar has received recognition in recent years. Condé Nast Traveller named it one of the top five bars in Copenhagen in 2025, and the same year it won the Danish cocktail championship.
Live music
Live jazz is played every Friday and Saturday from 20:30 to 23:00. The bar is also the place where the album At the Plaza – The Library Bar Concerts was recorded, so the music is part of its identity as well as its programme. If you want to hear the jazz, plan your visit around those two evenings.
Planning your visit
Because the room is small, table reservations are recommended for groups of eight or more. The bar can also be hired for private events and shoots outside its opening hours. For opening details and reservations, the bar has its own website, which is the best place to check current information before you go.
