running

FIF Løb is the running club of the athletics section of Frederiksberg IF, known as FIF Atletik. Based in Copenhagen and serving both Copenhagen and Frederiksberg, it offers a welcoming way to see the city on foot, at a pace set by a group of local runners. It suits people who already run regularly as well as those who are simply curious about the club and the city's green spaces.

Where you will run

The group meets for training at Frederiksberg Stadion, and during the winter months it trains inside Damsøbadet instead. Most runs take place in the parks and areas close to the stadium, including Damhussøen, Søndermarken and Utterslev Mose. Occasionally the group runs on the stadium track itself. Routes through these places give a different view of Copenhagen from the one most visitors see, with lakes, wooded paths and open parkland within easy reach of the city.

What a visit is like

Training takes place throughout the year, on weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings. Newcomers are welcome to join a few runs to try the club before deciding whether to become members, so a visit can be a low-commitment way to meet Danish runners. The club describes its aim as helping members become better runners within a community that looks after one another and the running environment, and that values health and enjoyment of life.
