running

Ørestad Runners is a social running club in Copenhagen's Ørestad district, a neighbourhood of modern architecture, canal-side paths and open green space. It suits visitors who want to be active in the city and meet people who live there, rather than simply see the sights.

The club blends exercise with fun and community. Its aim is to let locals connect and get to know one another, and it welcomes visitors into that same circle. Everyone is welcome regardless of fitness level, so you can choose between a 5 km run or a 2.5 km walk on each outing.

Running through Ørestad

The route takes you through a district that looks very different from the older streets of central Copenhagen. Striking contemporary buildings line the way, and the canal-side paths offer a relaxed, open feel. Nearby, the green expanse of Amager Fælled provides a welcome change of scenery, giving the run a sense of space and fresh air.

A drink with the group

The club works with the neighbourhood bar Stamstedet. Runs start and finish there, and the group usually gathers for a drink afterwards, which is often where the conversation and new acquaintances take shape.

Planning your visit

Group runs take place on Saturdays. Times vary from week to week, so check the club's Facebook group for the current details before you go. The club's own website, runningclubscopenhagen.dk, gives an overview of how the club works.

If you are looking for a welcoming way to stay active in Copenhagen and see a different side of the city, Ørestad Runners offers a friendly, low-pressure start.
