Méthadone Bertrand tells the story of Madame Bertrand, a 74-year-old woman living alone with her cigarettes and her pain, and Félix, a 26-year-old without ambition who delivers medication for a local pharmacy. When Félix knocks on her door for his last delivery of the day, what was meant to be a quick stop turns into an unexpectedly long and life-changing visit.
The play explores two intertwined forms of loneliness: the isolation felt by many elderly people who rely on medication to cope with their suffering, and the disconnection experienced by young people who also numb their pain without any clear anchor in life.
This is the debut text of playwright and director Vincent Paquette, inspired by a true story. The production is by Théâtre Astronaute and co-presented by La Bordée.
