CH3.

running

CH3 is a running club in Copenhagen, and for visitors it offers a relaxed way to see the Danish capital on foot. The group is the Copenhagen Hash House Harriers, which describes itself, with some humour, as a drinking club with a running problem. The runs are social as much as athletic, and the emphasis is on getting out, moving through the city and meeting people along the way.

What a visit looks like

The club runs every week of the year, though the timing changes with the seasons. From October to March the runs take place on Saturday afternoons, and from April to September they move to Monday evenings. Runs usually start from an S-Tog station, which makes them easy to reach by public transport. Each run listing on the club's website links to Rejseplanen, the national journey planner, so you can check the route from wherever you are staying.

Planning ahead

If you are in town on a Friday night, the club suggests emailing its Mismanagement to find out where the group is drinking that week. This is a good way to meet members informally after a run, or simply to join the social side of the club if you prefer not to run far.

CH3 also keeps in touch with its members and visitors through a Meetup group, a Facebook group and an Instagram account, so you can follow the schedule before you travel. The club's own website, ch3.dk, is the most complete source of current details, including the run listings and directions.

Who it suits

CH3 suits visitors who want a friendly, active way to spend an afternoon or evening in Copenhagen, and who are happy to share the experience with local people. You do not need to be a serious runner to take part, and a visit combines exercise with a fresh look at the city's streets and neighbourhoods.
