Mat Vezio's album launch concert takes place at CCF in Montreal on November 10. It marks the release of his fourth album, Vingt mille pieds au-dessus de l'abysse, and the evening is built as a full-band show with projections behind the music.
The performance
Mat Vezio performs in a full-band version of his songs, joined on stage by Amylie, Stéphane Bergeron of Karkwa, and Charles St-Amour of Martin Léon. The projections add a visual layer to the indie rock set, so the concert is as much an atmosphere as a listening session.
The opening set
Catherine Alone opens the night. This is the solo project of Catherine Laurin, singer and keyboardist of Cosmophone, performing alone on piano and a Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08. Her songs are introspective, and the quieter set makes a good lead-in to the full band that follows.
Is it worth the trip?
- A good fit for fans of indie rock with a band lineup and visual staging.
- A chance to hear a launch show for a new album, with a solo opener for contrast.
- Held at CCF, in Montreal, so the visit can be combined with a wider evening in the city.
