Dubwise Meeting #8 brings the legendary Channel One Sound System back to Montréal for a special session with Yarra Sound, following a memorable first encounter in 2024. With over 40 years of sound system history, Channel One — led by Mikey Dread alongside Ras Sherby — delivers conscious roots reggae, exclusive dubplates, and powerful steppers, all played strictly on vinyl from a single-turntable setup.
Born in London in the late 1970s, Channel One has become one of the most internationally recognized names in sound system culture, known for legendary sessions at Notting Hill Carnival and festivals across Europe and beyond. Their mission: breaking barriers through reggae music.
Also on the bill is Sawaya, a long-standing figure in Montréal's reggae sound system scene and former member of WorldWild Soundsystem. His selections span Deep Roots to Dub Steppa with a unifying Roots & Culture vibe. Sawaya also designed the event's artwork.
Expect heavy bass, strictly vinyl selections, exclusive dubplates, and Roots, Dub & Steppers all night long.

Sawaya
Sawaya is a Montréal-based sound system selector and graphic artist, formerly of WorldWild Soundsystem, known for selections ranging from Deep Roots to Dub Steppa with a unifying Roots & Culture approach. He also designed the artwork for Dubwise Meeting #8.
