Artisans Canada is a celebration of Canadian craftsmanship — a beloved Old Montréal boutique devoted to le savoir-faire canadien, where the talent of local artisans, designers, and makers is put centre stage. Its roots run deep and genuinely familial: the story began in 1946, when Thomas's grandfather Adrien Racine, a lover of design and craft, opened the very first shop in the heart of the quarter, specializing in elegant European-import furniture. Under his daughter Céline it became Les Tricots Adrien Racine, a haven for handmade knitwear, before the third generation took the reins in 1997 and opened a new chapter altogether: Artisans Canada, a true laboratory of discovery for art, fashion, and unique objects, most of them made right here in Canada. In 2019, the boutique opened its doors in the heart of historic Old Montréal, and in 2025, after major renovations, it doubled its footprint to create an even more welcoming space to celebrate Canadian creativity. Through every era the mission has stayed the same — to champion homegrown craft while honouring the love of wide-open spaces, the richness of the culture, and the Canadian heritage behind each find.
Today that passion is shared by a team of more than 30, working with over 200 local artisans and businesses across a warm, family-run operation that carries on three generations of the same devotion to quality and to genuinely delighting each visitor. Stepping inside feels like a curated tour of the best of Canadian making, where every corner brings artisanry, creativity, and passion to life.
The selection is wonderfully wide-ranging. There's handcrafted jewellery — rings, earrings, bracelets, anklets, necklaces and pendants, including pieces by names like Anne-Marie Chagnon; a deep world of accessories, from belts, hats, caps and tuques, scarves, gloves and mittens, and cozy slippers to beautiful leather bags and wallets; clothing spanning shirts, coats, tees, jackets and sweatshirts, and sleepwear; a thoughtful baby and children's section; natural soaps and home-relaxation goods; and a lovely home department covering fine knives, art-de-la-table, decor, and games, plus a stationery corner of posters, illustrations, and greeting cards. Marquee Canadian and heritage makers fill the shelves — Harricana, Tilley, Red Canoe, Muttonhead, Crown Cap, Canadian Hat, Grohmann Knives, Pantoufles Garneau, and many more — each chosen with care, and there's even a house label, KM54 by Artisans Canada.
