The Lofty
Light.

In 12 days show

The Lofty Light is a street show in Montpellier, in the Occitania region of southern France. Two stilt-walkers dressed in white and light move through the city's streets, making it an evening suited to visitors of all ages.

What to expect

The show is a parade rather than a seated performance, so you can follow it on foot as it passes through the neighbourhoods. The stilt-walkers' tall figures and luminous costumes make them easy to spot from a distance, and the procession suits an unhurried stroll through the city centre after dark.

Dates and routes

  • Friday, November 13: the parade runs through the Sud Comédie district, starting and ending on rue de Verdun.
  • Saturday, November 14: the parade runs through the Saint-Roch district, starting and ending on place Saint-Roch.

Because each evening follows a different route, you can see both by visiting the two districts on consecutive nights. The two areas are distinct in character, so the pair makes a good way to explore different parts of Montpellier.

Planning your visit

The event takes place in the streets themselves, so no tickets or fixed seating are involved. For the latest information on the campaign behind the event, including the Coeur de Ville en Lumières programme, see the official Montpellier city website.
