Sigurd's History of Denmark.

In 154 days theater performance

Sigurd's History of Denmark is a children's theatre show set in Copenhagen, staged at Aveny-T on the Main Stage in the Store Scene. It is a returning production, here in an updated version with a new staging, and it runs from 9 to 11 April 2027.

The story

The show follows Sofie, whose father has invented a time machine. By mistake, Sofie is sent back to the beginning of Danish history. Along the way she meets a range of figures from the past: the Egtved Girl, the Grauballe Man, Vikings and monks, and, in the Golden Age, H.C. Andersen and Grundtvig. The journey moves from prehistory towards more recent times, so younger audiences get a sense of how the country's past connects to the present.

What to expect

  • A family-friendly performance built around a time-travel adventure
  • Four child dancers performing alongside Sigurd Barrett, Adam Rohweder and Sandra Bothmann
  • A closing question for the audience about what we can use history for, and how to share it across generations

The show suits families and school groups who want to introduce children to Danish history through live theatre. Aveny-T is in Copenhagen, so it is easy to combine the visit with time in the city. Full details and tickets are on the venue's page for the production at aveny-t.dk.
