Scientist (JM): Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires – Extra Show.

In 88 days concert

Jamaican dub pioneer Scientist brings his 1981 album Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires to ALICE in Copenhagen on 2 February 2027. The concert plays the record in its entirety and marks the album's 45th anniversary.

About the show

This is an extra date. The first Scientist concert at ALICE sold out very quickly, and the added performance gives more people the chance to hear the album played live from start to finish. It forms part of Vinterjazz 2027, a nationwide festival running from 29 January to 28 February.

Why it is worth a visit

  • A full album performance: the whole record is played, rather than a selection of highlights.
  • A dub lineage: Scientist is described as the former right-hand man of King Tubby, and his work has included collaborations with Barrington Levy, Roots Radics, Johnny Osbourne and Augustus Pablo.
  • A different side of his work: in 2010 he remixed Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's "Telephone", showing how far his production has reached beyond reggae.

The venue and the city

ALICE is a concert hall in Copenhagen, a compact city that makes it easy to combine a night out with time elsewhere. Because the concert is part of a festival that runs through February, it also suits visitors who are already in Denmark for the winter season. Check the event page for the latest details before you plan your trip.
