The Copenhagen Traditional Jazz Session is a monthly trad jazz concert held at Charlie Scott's in Copenhagen, Denmark. The evening listed here falls on November 12, with the music starting at 18:00.
What to expect
A sextet of leading Danish musicians plays the repertoire of the early jazz greats, with pieces by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Duke Ellington among those named. It is a concert format, so the focus is on listening, though the programme is open to dancers as well.
The jam session
- A jam session follows in the third set, if musicians turn up on the night.
- Because it depends on who arrives, the jam is not guaranteed, so it is worth treating it as a bonus rather than the main reason to go.
Planning your visit
Charlie Scott's is the venue for the session, so the evening suits anyone who wants live traditional jazz in a club setting in Copenhagen. Whether you come to listen closely, to dance, or to stay for the jam, the concert welcomes all three. For up-to-date details on the live programme, see the venue's live jazz page at charliescotts.dk.
