Aus der Welt der Puppenspielerei leitet Bérangère Vantusso erstmals ein Klassiker des sogenannten "Theaters des Absurden". Ionescos Stück aus dem Jahr 1959 war eine tragikomische Metapher für die Art und Weise, wie die Menschen sich an die schlimmsten Dinge gewöhnt hatten, kurz vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Als Rhinos auf eine kleine Stadt niedergehen und die Bewohner an eine Art "Rhinose" erkranken, entsteht Besorgnis – aber man kann ja schließlich auch mit zwei Hörnern und grüner Haut recht gut leben.
Nur Béranger, ein ganz normaler, leicht alkoholkonsumierender Mann – kein Held – entscheidet sich, nicht konform zu sein. Dramaturg Nicolas Doutey hat das Stück subtil im Hinblick auf die heutigen Realitäten überarbeitet. Die Bühne ist hier mit hunderten von weißen, bedrohlichen, manipulierbaren Würfeln gefüllt.
