Ancient Musical Instruments at the Hôtel de Varennes.

Dieses Wochenende live demo
This event brings together a remarkable collection of reconstructed early instruments, the result of painstaking archeo-lutherie work. Among the pieces on display and in performance are a Romanesque vielle inspired by the tympanum of the Abbey of Moissac, a guitar reconstructed from the liturgical wardrobe of the Cathedral of Elne, a Merovingian lyre from Trossingen, a Languedocian oboe and a harp restored from the seal of Guilhem VIII, Lord of Montpellier. Far from static museum pieces, these instruments are played live by Ylian Gay, who shares the sounds and stories of music that had been lost for centuries. Visitors are invited to hear the instruments, ask questions and deepen their understanding of medieval musical heritage.
