Royal Arena is a large indoor venue in Ørestad, on the southern edge of Copenhagen, Denmark. It opened in 2017 and can hold around 16,000 guests, which makes it one of the biggest event spaces in Scandinavia. Its address is Hannemanns Allé 18-20, 2300 København S.
What happens there
The arena is a multi-purpose building, so its programme changes with the season. It hosts major concerts, sports events and entertainment shows, along with cultural events of various sizes. Because the building was designed to be flexible, it can accommodate both very large gatherings and smaller events in the same space.
The building was designed by the Danish architecture practice 3XN. Its spacious foyer areas give visitors room to move around before and after an event, which is useful on busy nights when a crowd is arriving or leaving at the same time.
Getting there
- By metro: the arena is close to both Ørestad and Vestamager metro stations.
- By car: it lies alongside the E20 motorway.
Because the venue sits outside the historic centre, a visit usually means a short journey out from the city, so it is worth checking how you will travel home once the event ends.
