Sébastien Larochelle, alias Istaymute, is a contemporary Quebec painter born in Hull in 1974. His signature universe — dubbed 'Pop Trash Art' — draws on nostalgia for the 1980s and 90s, street art, and influences such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, executed through a liquid-acrylic dripping technique.
For this performance, he will paint live directly onto sculptures, leaving the Istaymute imprint on each piece in real time.
The event takes place in the Zone Arts présentée par Aveleda at Festival M.A.D. 2026; the exact date is to be announced.
