Karambolage
Night.

In 4 Tagen quizz session

Karambolage Night is an evening of language, humour and friendly rivalry held in Montpellier, in the Occitania region of France. It takes place at Copper Bar, at 26 rue de l'Université, a short walk from the university campus.

The first edition is hosted by two university language lecturers: Kristin Mehler, DAAD lecturer, and Agnes Kugler, OeAD lecturer, both at the University of Montpellier Paul-Valéry. Their idea is simple: bring people together over a drink to laugh at the differences between French and German ways of life.

What the evening includes

  • A bilingual French-German pub quiz, so players can join in whichever language they are more comfortable with.
  • A screening of four episodes of Karambolage, the ARTE show.

The show, Karambolage, takes an amused look at the people on both sides of the Rhine. It compares words, rites, everyday objects and cultural references, and it does so with a light touch that suits a relaxed pub setting.

Who it suits

The evening is a good fit for anyone curious about French or German culture, for language learners who want to practise in a low-pressure setting, and for those who simply enjoy a quiz with a bit of comparative fun. You do not need to be a specialist to take part; the mix of two languages and short screened episodes keeps the evening easy to follow.
